Thanks for your post Alex. You're actually the first visitor to our site to leave a comment. We're really grateful - this is what the site's about.

Unfortunately we do have an ongoing problem with litter and petty vandalism, but we're determined not to give into this. We're really grateful that you help to take the time and care to help pick some of the litter up, but like you've said - please keep yourself safe. We do pick up litter ourselves, so it's great you care too.

I do know that the Council have increased their litter picking here in Matson & Robinswood (I've seen them out and about a lot more myself), but I'll report the litter across to streetcare and ask them to keep an eye on this. It is our one and only formal garden after all.

Until this financial year there has been no significant investment in planting the garden since the 1980's. Some wild daffodils were planted in the centre raised bed ready for this spring, but that's all the flower planting so far. We're looking to develop the agreement to plant flowers in the outer beds and now the new financial year is nearly upon us we will start applying for more grants to do so. This will take time, but we promise to look into it and post an update.

As for the flowering Japonica, that's really kind of you. I'll get straight onto gaining permission to plant this after I've finished this post. It usually takes a few days for a response, but again we will post a response in the blog.

Was in the Rose Garden today. Unfortunately quite a bit of litter about but will try to sort that out myself shortly. I did pick up a little today but didn't have any gloves or such so decided not to risk it too much.

Wondering why there are no flowering bulbs? It would be lovely if there were some daffodils or tulips in the Garden. I'd also be happy to offer a flowering Japonica, if you're interested!
