- Gloucestershire Gateway Trust
The Gloucestershire Gateway proposal is for a Motorway Service Area (MSA) between junctions 11a and 12 of the M5, both north and southbound, accessed via a slip road from the motorway. It will employ around 300 people with an investment of around £30 million.
Gloucestershire Gateway MSA (GG MSA) has two objectives:
- To lead the market with a new model of MSA which reflects the produce and culture of Gloucestershire, with homemade, locally sourced food in its cafes and farm shops showcasing local produce. Most British MSAs have a more standardised approach, offering a range of national and global brands rather than creating businesses tailored to and from their locality. This project will be more comparable to the model adopted by some of the best MSAs in Continental Europe, as well as Tebay Motorway Services in Cumbria which is run by the project's commercial partner.
- To bring benefit to Gloucestershire and the region through social and economic regeneration and support for environmental sustainability and stewardship.
GG MSA will distribute income each year to voluntary and community organisations in Gloucestershire through an annual profit share scheme.
