An Evening of Film and Show Music

On the evening of Saturday 14th November the Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be playing a selection of Film and Stage music at Matson Baptist Church. The performance will start at 7.30pm and proceeds from the concert will be going to 'Together in Matson' (TIM). TIM works with the children and young people of Matson. Tickets are £6.00 and £3.00 for under 18s.

Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble was formed in 1998 by ex-university students from Staffordshire. Today its 30-40 members, who share the same desire to perform to very high standards, travel from all over the country to meet once a month to rehearse. They have won several awards in national competitions. The Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble is one of only a handful of bands that has been invited to take part in the National Finals at the Royal Northern College of Music where they have won gold and silver awards.

Aside from competition playing, the Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble enjoys concert performance and tries to perform regularly, rehearsing during the day and playing in the evening at venues all over the country.

Local interest is provided by Chris Baggs who is the Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble's first flute. Chris was born in Gloucester and educated at Moat and Saintbridge schools before going to Keele University. He now lives and works in Stoke on Trent.

It has taken two years to get the Glebe Symphonic Wind Ensemble to return to Gloucester so please come and support them and 'Together in Matson' if you can. Tickets are available from the TIM Office on 01452 381070 or 01452 411464.
